Painting has been a lifelong journey for Ruth Newquist. Inspired by a childhood love of art, she attended Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, earning a BFA degree while studying with such great painters as Ranulph Bye, Reginald Marsh and Frank Reilly. She later attended the Art Students League in New York City.

Ruth is known for her SoHo New York cityscapes as well as New England rural and urban landscapes. She paints in both oil and watercolor. Ruth has been an exhibiting artist in the National Watercolor Society shows and Allied Artists of America shows. She has enjoyed membership in Salmagundi Club in New York City, as well as membership in the North Shore Art Association in Gloucester, Mass.

Ruth has won numerous awards in national competitions and was featured on the “Watercolor Pages” in American Artist Magazine June 1999. She is also represented in Best of Watercolor III, a hard cover book published by Rockport Publishers in 1999 and Splash 9 Secrets of Watercolor published by F&W publications Inc. in 2006 and will be represented in Splash 12: Celebrating Artistic Vision.

Ruth exhibits her paintings in galleries and art shows throughout New England and New York.
